Opera in the Arboretum

Opera in the Arboretum is an open-air, all-weather, picnic style event which brings together a star-studded line-up of artists to perform Opera’s much loved arias, duets and ensembles in the coastal rainforest setting of the Crommelin Native Arboretum in Pearl Beach, NSW. This unique venue is an easy 90 minute drive from Sydney and 60 minutes from Newcastle.

Opera in the Arboretum is an annual charity fundraiser hosted by the Rotary Club of Woy Woy

To our dear audience

It's been a while and we miss you! We've created this film clip to say hello and to let you know that we will be back with a fabulous event in March 2022.

Special thanks to everyone who helped with this project: Our stunning sopranos from Opera Australia, Jane Ede - Soprano and Clarissa Spata - Soprano; Super talented film maker Benjamin Fraser; Joan Redmond Rotary Club of Woy Woy President who facilitated the idea at every turn; Pearl Beach Progress Association; Pearl Beach Arboretum; and Everglades Country Club. Planning begins for Opera in the Arboretum 2022

Posted: 25 April 2021
We've put aside our disappointment about the cancellation of the event in 2020 and 2021, and we've begun planning to bring you our 15th Opera in the Arboretum at a date TBA in March 2022. We live in hope that by then COVID-19 vaccination will be widespread, borders will be open to welcome artists and patrons, and we can gather once again to picnic under the gum trees and enjoy another glorious afternoon of Opera in the stunning natural setting of the Crommelin native arboretum in Pearl Beach.

Patrons and sponsors save the day

Sadly, due to COVID-19 restrictions we had to cancel Opera in the Arboretum 2020. The cancellation could have meant a huge loss for the recipients and the club had it not been for the generosity of patrons and sponsors who dug deep and saved the day. They answered our call to donate and it is thanks to their support that the Club has been able to provide some funds to each of the Opera in the Arboretum 2020 recipients and to the artists

We don't know what the future holds, but hope it will again be possible to stage this much-loved charity event in 2021.
